Q: What made you want to be a musician?

Suzanne: From a very young age I used to write songs in my head, so I think I was born one. However, my first attempt at putting a song down was inspired by a school friend who told me I couldn't sing! I tend to get very dogmatic in proving people wrong and decided I would prove I could both sing and write. Shortly after, my parents bought me a guitar for my 13th birthday after the initial present, a pony, was returned due to incompatibility problems (psych 101, the reason for my fear of falling!) I am a classically trained pianist, however I found the guitar much easier to write with as, being self taught, I had no structure associated with it.

Q: Who inspires you musically?

Suzanne: I know this is where I am supposed to reel off many great contemporary musicians, however my formative writing years were spent in relative musical isolation. I think my flare for the dramatic was inspired by my mother's love of classical music. I wouldn't say that I have a great knowledge of classical artists, however I do have a penchant for the passion and depth they created.
